Ear wax was a very dark brown, possibly black.?

I was cleaning my ear with a q tip today and noticed that the ear wax in my left ear was very dark. I swiped it again and went in a little deaper and pull out a good size glob of ear wax that looked very dark brownish, maybe even black. I'm a worrier, so looking at it more made me think it looked sort of redish too. Is this dried blood? I clean my ears routinely each month. I haven't had any headaches or earaches lately. Anyone have any answers for me or thoughts on what it could be?
