Cool retro and geeky computer games?

Can you recommend any other ones? I don't want "see how many bubbles you can pop!" or "kill all of the zombies with your rainbows!" I don't care if you're totally addicted to the rainbow game, just give me something old school, yo. But not old school like pac man... keep it modern but oldish?? that doesn't make sense and I know I'm being super picky. I remember there was an 8 bit looking game involving tanks, and you would program them and set stuff up. That would be cool, too... where you can program and change your own stuff! haha, thanks guys. sorry if I'm being super picky, haha, I just love those games! :3
